Pembrokeshire volunteers who drove the push to bring the National Eisteddfod to the county have been formally recognised at a ceremony on the Garreg Las Maes, with the council confirming on 7 August that the community fundraising effort had topped £528,000, the largest sum ever raised by a local fund for a National Eisteddfod.

The 'Celebrating our Champions' event opened the week's programme at Pentre'r Garreg Las, the Pembrokeshire County Council-led pavilion on the festival site at Llantwd in north Pembrokeshire, on Saturday 1 August. Volunteers from across Pembrokeshire, Carmarthenshire and Ceredigion, the three counties that make up the Garreg Las region, were invited onto the stage to receive recognition for their work on local fundraising committees.
