Preparations are well under way for the 2026 Pembrokeshire County Show, which takes place on Wednesday 19 and Thursday 20 August at the County Showground, Withybush, just outside Haverfordwest. Organisers say the two-day event is shaping up to be a landmark occasion for the county's farming and rural community.
The show is organised by the Pembrokeshire Agricultural Society and is widely regarded as the largest county agricultural show in Wales, drawing thousands of visitors from across Pembrokeshire and well beyond. Early-bird e-tickets are currently on sale via the society's website at www.pembsshow.org, with a deadline of Friday 14 August for competition entries across livestock, equine, vintage vehicles, craft and horticulture categories.
Agriculture sits at the heart of the programme, with classes covering cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry and horses. There will also be British Showjumping, junior showjumping and arena eventing, as well as competitions celebrating crops, horticulture, crafts and photography. Vintage vehicles and agricultural machinery will be on display throughout both days, providing a connection to the county's deep rural heritage.
Countryside, food and family fun
Beyond the show rings, visitors can browse arts and crafts, explore trade stands bringing together agricultural businesses, local organisations and producers, and enjoy all-day live entertainment from the music stage. A hands-on Food Story area will give younger visitors the chance to learn where their food comes from, while the funfair is also set to return. The show's accessibility partner, Advanced Mobility, can be pre-booked for those who need assistance getting around the site.
Adam George, a construction project manager from Hayscastle, takes on the role of the society's Ambassador for 2026 and 2027. Although not from a farming background himself, he has long been involved with the Young Farmers movement and serves as Pembrokeshire YFC's county vice-chairman, making him a well-known face in the county's rural circles.
The Agricultural Society's Long Service Awards will be presented in the President's Pavilion at 4pm on Wednesday 19 August. The awards honour farm and estate workers who have given at least 25 years of continuous service to the same employer, recognising the dedication that underpins Pembrokeshire's agricultural industry.
With competition entry deadlines falling over the coming days, organisers are urging anyone wishing to take part to check schedules promptly. The show runs from 8.30am to 7pm on both days, and the society is encouraging the whole county to come out and celebrate what it describes as the very best of Pembrokeshire.
