Thousands of Pembrokeshire homes that are not connected to the mains gas network could be entitled to a £200 payment to help cover rising fuel costs — but residents need to act before the end of next month.
The Off Grid Heating Fuel Support Scheme is funded by the Welsh Government and administered locally by Pembrokeshire County Council. It offers a one-off £200 payment to low-income households whose main source of heat is heating oil or liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
To qualify, a household must be in receipt of — or have successfully applied for — the Council Tax Reduction Scheme at some point between 1 April and 31 July 2026. Applicants must also be able to provide proof that oil or LPG is their primary heating fuel, such as a bill dated within the past twelve months, and the property must be their main residence.
Only one payment is permitted per household. The council has already written to households it believes are likely to be eligible, so residents who rely on off-grid fuel and think they qualify should check their post or contact the council if they have not heard anything.
How to apply and when to expect payment
Applicants will be asked to confirm their fuel type, supply evidence such as an oil or LPG delivery bill, and provide bank details so that payment can be made directly into their account.
All applications must be submitted by 30 September 2026. Verified claims will be paid as quickly as possible, and no later than 31 October 2026, giving households support ahead of the winter heating season.
